SmartWOD “Workout of the Month” – what is it?

With SmartWOD’s “Workout of the Month”, we release a new workout every month for what is arguably the fittest community in the world—the SmartWOD community. And we offer it in three difficulty levels—from beginner to pro athlete.

There’s often a “minimal” or “home” version as well. With “Nice to meat you”, however, you’ll need a pull-up bar and a SkiErg, which is why it’s best to do this For Time workout at a box or in a well-equipped home gym.

By the way: Share your score with us on Instagram and compare yourself with other SmartWOD athletes from around the world. Every now and then, we also give away premium codes and goodies in a drawing among everyone who participates. So it's definitely worth it!

Look forward to “Nice to Meat You 🥩” in July

This workout doesn't start at the pole—it starts on the SkiErg.

Each of the three rounds starts with a calorie goal on the SkiErg. Only then do you move on to three rounds of pulls and pushes. Sound manageable? Just wait and see.

Because the harder you work on the SkiErg, the more pre-fatigue you carry over to the bar. That’s exactly why this workout isn’t just about strength, but above all about smart pacing.

Tip from Moritz: Don't try to sprint the entire way on the SkiErg. A few seconds you gain there could end up costing you significantly more time later on.

What do you need for the workout?

  • A SkiErg

  • A pull-up bar or rings

  • A wall (for handstand push-ups)

  • And, of course, the SmartWOD Timer

Which level is right for me?

In “Nice to Meat You”, your pull-up skills and your overhead pressing strength are the most important factors.

  • If you have safely mastered chest-to-bar pull-ups and strict handstand push-ups, the Performance Level is just right for you.

  • At the Fitness Level, the volume and structure remain the same, but the exercises become slightly more accessible. This allows you to focus fully on maintaining a steady rhythm.

  • The Starter Level replaces the more technically demanding movements with ring rows and push-ups. This maintains the training stimulus without letting missing skills become a limiting factor.

Important: You can't win this workout on the SkiErg. The key is to make sure you still have enough strength left for the pulls and pushes after burning those calories.

Moritz Fiebig vs. „Nice to Meat You 🥩“

Athlet an einer Pull-up-Stange

CrossFit Games athlete Moritz Fiebig shows you on our YouTube channel how he powers through “Nice to Meat You”.

Pay special attention to how he sets his pace on the SkiErg and paces himself during the repetitions on the bar. In this workout in particular, good pacing often makes the difference between a strong final lap and one where you completely run out of steam.

Who is Moritz Fiebig?

If you don't know Moritz yet: He's from Hamburg, where he owns his own CrossFit box called Sankt Pauli Athletik. He's already competed four times at the CrossFit Games (2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025—2026 will be his fifth time) and is a real beast even off the competition floor.

By the way, you'll see Moritz all over our Workout Generator app: In the exercise library, you'll find videos featuring him where he shows you how to perform individual movements correctly. And he also appears regularly in our Instagram Story.

Ready for “Nice to Meat You”?

A strong back, sturdy shoulders, and good pacing—that's really all you need for this workout. Well... and maybe a good dose of determination. 🥩
